What to Bring

  • Insurance card and photo I.D.
  • Medical records: Please bring copies of your medical records from other physicians – including copies of imaging studies and lab results. If you’ve undergone joint surgery before, bring copies of your operation report.
  • Lists: Please provide a written list of your medications and allergies (if any).

What to Expect

A Detailed Medical History

We’ll want to know about your overall health, family medical history, and existing conditions – particularly arthritis and osteoporosis.

Imaging Studies

With imaging studies, we can assess the size, shape, and position of the joint, which can further help us confirm the diagnosis.

A Conversation About Your Pain

We need to know where your pain occurs, and what movements cause it. Many of our patients find it’s helpful to keep a pain journal during the week leading up to their appointment.

Orthopedic Physical Examination

This exam will allow us to assess your range of motion, reflexes, function, and more. We will evaluate your ability to walk, sit, stand, climb stairs, and get out of bed. The results of these various tests will aid us in making a diagnosis and recommending treatments.
